The North Carolina Division of Air Quality celebrated the best student projects from the 2023 -2024 AQ-IQ Contest on Saturday, July 13, at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina.
The annual AQ-IQ Contest asked seventh-grade students to make a project that investigates an air quality challenge and looks for solutions. The best projects are tools that educate others and inspire a future with cleaner air for all. The projects can be artistic, electronic, posters or videos.
Students’ projects were shared at a recognition ceremony at the NC Transportation Museum located in Spencer. Holding the ceremony at the museum provided an opportunity for students to learn about the history of transportation and how it directly affects air pollution. The event had students come from as far away as Asheville, Raleigh and Topsail Island.
Centralina Clean Fuels Coalition was on site to celebrate the students’ accomplishments and share information about promoting better air quality through promoting the use of alternative fuels in the transportation sector.
