Propane Mower Demo Day 05/13/15

According to the Department of Energy, lawn mowing results in an annual consumption of more than 1.2 billion gallons of gasoline. Propane not only reduces operating costs, but results in 50% fewer greenhouse gas emissions and 80% fewer carbon monoxide emissions. The use of propane fuel also extends engine life, has numerous safety benefits, and provides for easier maintenance and storage.

On May 13th, the Centralina Fuels Coalition held a propane mower workshop and demo day in order to educate stakeholders on the technology and benefits of propane powered lawn mowers. Speakers from the Propane Education & Research Council, Phoenix Landscape Management, Metro Lawn, and GHS Distributing all discussed a variety of topics from the basics of propane to the cost benefits, different models of mowers, conversion kits, and the availability of technical assistance for propane mowers. Seven different vendors provided mowers in order to give attendees a hands-on look at propane powered mowers and even test drive various models.
