National Drive Electric Week Made an Electrifying Presence!

10.03.19

September 18th saw the Greater Charlotte region's largest and most successful National Drive Electric Week event yet. Centralina Clean Fuels Coalition partnered with the City of Charlotte again to co-host the event on the Levine Avenue of the Arts. An estimated crowd of around 200 participants visited "Electric Avenue" to learn about the growing list of electric vehicles (EVs) available to the general public and to fleets as realistic alternatives to traditional gas and diesel vehicles. It was great to see our own Coordinator, Jason Wager discussing the CCFCs connections between many of the City of Charlotte and other fleets electrification efforts and projects.

We were thrilled to see many of our stakeholders among the crowded aisle of EVs-including Duke Energy; the City of Charlotte; Mecklenburg Air Quality Division; Central Piedmont Community College; Club Car; Chargepoint, Guardian Fueling Technologies, and Nissan, one of the event sponsors. Vehicles on display ranged from a heavy duty Club Car model, Tesla Model X, Ford Focus Electric, to the Plug-In Electric Pacifica Hybrid, Chevy Bolt, Chevy Volt, Mitsubishi  Plug-In Electric Outlander to a staple Nissan Leaf, among many others.

Thank you to everyone who came out and especially to our co-hosts the City of Charlotte for helping make this event happen! The amount of sustainable transportation options continues to grow every year and promoting all options, from vehicles to electric bikes and scooters as environmentally and economically better choices makes more sense the longer we continue these kinds of events. If we didn't see you this year and you're interested in participating or perhaps exhibiting your own electric vehicle or alternative transportation options next year, please visit https://driveelectricweek.org/ and watch for the next Charlotte area event to be posted!
